'..it was full of new experiences for us - eating fruit straight from a tree & eating the most delicious fruit-filled pancakes.' Barbara & Roman
Your hosts, Ed and Lorraine came to the Okanagan from Ontario in 2002. We are active outdoor enthusiasts whose interests range from Triathalons to birdwatching, photography, golfing and gardening. We are well travelled from England, Ireland, Greece, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Belize, Guatemala, Australia and in 2000 a 45,000 km trip across Canada and down the West coast of the U.S. and into Mexico.
We are now exploring the Okanagan and can help you plan your adventures whether it is touring wineries, golfing, hiking, biking or even driving.
We love meeting new people and enjoy spending the evenings sitting on the deck, chatting with guests over a glass of local wine.
Things to do.
Discover Oliver and area, located at the northern tip of the Sonoran Desert, Oliver receives less than 10 inches of rainfall every year. The dry warm climate is also favoured by the Prickly Pear Cactus that can be found on most hikes. The area is also one of the best birdwatching areas in Canada.
Explore the wineries Oliver is home to 10% of the nations wineries, take a day or two and visit the 20+ local vineyards either on your own or on a tour bus that we can pre-arrange for you. Most are within 10 minutes drive from our house.
Hike or Bike the Golden Mile Trail. A 10 km trail across the foothills, enjoy exploring the 100 year old stamp mill and abandoned gold mines or just take in the spectacular panoramas stretching from Osoyoos to the south all the way to Mc Intyre bluff to the north.
Enjoy great Golf the town has two great courses, Fairview Mountain Golf Club and Inkameep Canyon Desert Golf Course, both 18 hole par 72.
Hike to the top of McIntyre Bluff the trail starts at Covert farms and winds up past a lake to the overlook with great views looking over Oliver and to the south.
There are many more exciting things to do and we can help you plan your days' and when you are tired from exploring we can advise you where to relax and enjoy the great dining in the area.
But if all you want to do is relax and get away from it all, there is no better place than our home and gardens where you can just sit and watch the California Quail wander through the flowers and shrubs, the Goldfinches picking seeds from the sunflowers and the smell of Roses and Lavender filling the air.
