'..it was full of new experiences for us - eating fruit straight from a tree & eating the most delicious fruit-filled pancakes.' Barbara & Roman
Your hosts, Ed and Lorraine came to the Okanagan from Ontario in 2002. We are active outdoor enthusiasts whose interests range from Triathlons to birdwatching, photography, golfing and gardening. We are well traveled from England, Ireland, Greece, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Belize, Guatemala, Argentina, Australia and in 2000 a 45,000 km trip across Canada and down the West coast of the U.S. and into Mexico. Last fall we spent seven weeks exploring Grand Canyon National Park, Death Valley and Zion National Park.
We know all of the trails in the area and can help you plan your adventures whether it is touring wineries, golfing, hiking, biking or even driving.
We love meeting new people and enjoy spending the evenings sitting on the deck, chatting with guests over a glass of local wine.
Things to do.
Discover Oliver and area, located at the northern tip of the Sonoran Desert, Oliver receives less than 10 inches of rainfall every year. The dry warm climate is also favoured by the Prickly Pear Cactus that can be found on most hikes. This is also one of the best birdwatching areas in Canada.
Explore the wineries Oliver is home to 10% of the nations wineries, take a day or two and visit the 30+ local vineyards either on your own or on a tour bus that we can pre-arrange for you. Most are within 10 minutes drive from our house.
Hike or Bike. Along the Okanagan river, a wonderful 18km trail, mostly paved and see lots of wildlife and many birds. The hike is level all the way.
Enjoy great Golf the town has two great courses, Fairview Mountain Golf Club and Inkameep Canyon Desert Golf Course, both 18 hole par 72. Also nearby is St Andrews, an executive no pressure 9 hole about 15 minutes away.
Hike to the top of McIntyre Bluff the trail starts at Covert farms and winds up past a lake to the overlook with great views looking over Oliver and to the south.
There are many more exciting things to do and we can help you plan your days' and when you are tired from exploring we can advise you where to relax and enjoy the great dining in the area.
But if all you want to do is relax and get away from it all, there is no better place than our home and gardens where you can just sit and watch the California Quail wander through the flowers and shrubs, the Goldfinches picking seeds from the sunflowers and the smell of Roses and Lavender filling the air.
