Grand Narrows Bed & Breakfast is located on the Bras d'Or Lakes in Cape Breton, NS.

The Hotel is located on the beachfront and guests can enjoy swimming in the clear, clean waters of the lakes, the largest salt-water lakes in the world.

A quiet country road hugs the shoreline and two natural marshes provide shelter to abundant birds and wildlife. Eagles soar overhead as you relax on the large front deck overlooking the water, watching the sunset over Iona in breathtaking colors.

A community run marina caters to the many boats as they pass through the Barra Strait. There is a Café and Restaurant nearby.

The B&B is a former 15 bedroom historic hotel built in 1887 by two local merchants. One of them, H.F. MacDougall, was the local Member of Parliament under Sir John A. MacDonald, and was instrumental in having the Intercolonial railway built through this area.

Guest registers now on display contain the names of many famous people, including Alexander Graham Bell (who built his summer home nearby in Baddeck,) J.A.D. McCurdy, Sir Charles Tupper, Grover Cleveland and Sam Slick.

Many cultural events take place throughout the summer months as this area of Cape Breton has its roots deep in Gaelic Tradition.

Each year in August, the Feis or festival is held in nearby Christmas Island and the NS Highland Museum can help you trace your Scottish roots.

We are very centrally located in the middle of Cape Breton. This makes return trips to other island destinations easily within a day's drive. Such attractions include:
