Spirit Sculptures

The human face is the focal point of my work. Creating an impression of a face provides a starting point of study for me to interpret what I am seeing and feeling about this particular person. I see my work as an interpretative-impressionistic way to represent the spiritual presence of the individual.

For sculptures with a strong message I choose individuals whose faces are pivotal in their transmission.

I work in plaster, expressing my impressions in an abstract form mostly as relief, although for some commission work I created free standing structures.

My relief, "Destiny" was chosen to represent South Fraser in the sculpture selection of the B.C. Festival of Arts held in Kamloops, 1995.

Destiny: A diptych juxtaposing greed and love in mankind's destiny.

My work was exhibited in various art galleries in the Vancouver area in the past, including a one artist's show, Femina 89. To view more of my work please visit http://sculpturebecker.com/
