The human face is the focal point of my work. Creating an impression of a face provides a starting point of study for me to interpret what I am seeing and feeling about this particular person. I see my work as an interpretative-impressionistic way to represent the spiritual presence of the individual. For sculptures with a strong message I choose individuals whose faces are pivotal in their transmission. I work in plaster, expressing my impressions in an abstract form mostly as relief, although for some commission work I created free standing structures.
