Lillooet Area Activities and Links

The Lillooet area has a vast choice of activities for the visitor:

This quote from our guest book is typical of people who visit.

"We only stayed with you one night but found Lillooet so interesting with it's spectacular scenery and wonderful history, we wished we could have stayed longer but unfortunately we had prebooked accommodation in Whistler the next night. Next time we will book a longer stay."
                                           Don and Sandra Johnston, UK.

  • The hiking in the surrounding areas is amazing. When in Lillooet purchase a book of 25 hiking trails around Lillooet, "Canyon to Alpine' published by the local naturalist society. Trails are all described in detail and graded for difficulty.
  • Fishing, swimming and boating in Seton or Fountain Lakes.
  • Tour the historic Lillooet Museum and see native artifacts and displays of the early history of Lillooet and the gold rush. There is also a display of the printing plant and office of Ma Murray, Lillooet’s most famous citizen.
  • Tour Miyazaki House, the former residence of Dr Miyazaki one of the former prominent residents of Lillooet. The house was built in the 1880s by Caspar Phair, one of the early settlers. It is now a Heritage site. In the summer months there is a free concert on the lawn for the public on Wednesday evenings. http://www.exploregoldcountry.com/news.php/view/17
  • Visit the site of the old bridge and walk across - it’s a period suspension bridge built in 1913. Further up the river you can see the aboriginal fishing grounds at the junction of the Bridge and Fraser Rivers where they net Salmon and air dry them.

  • Fish for giant sturgeon in the Fraser River – they get up to 10 ft in length. It‘s catch and release only.
  • Take a boat tour down Seton Lake on a fully restored authentic working tug. Stop for lunch at the pub at Seton and then do some  fishing on the way home. Phone 250-256-2365 for reservations.
  • Try your luck at gold panning in the rivers.
  • Walk the main street of Lillooet and see the large jade pieces mined in the area and see the cairn marking mile 0 of the Gold Rush Trail.
