Things to See and Do 

Calgary is the gateway to the Cowboy Trail and the Alberta Rocky Mountains. Exciting day trips are easy from Pathway Cottage. 

  • View dinosaur fossils in the Alberta Badlands and at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller.

  • Experience Indian history at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.

  • Banff National Park, nestled in the Canadian Rockies, is only 1 hour and 45 minutes away.

  • Kananaskis Provincial Park is 35 minutes to the east entrance and the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.

  • Calgary Stampede, the greatest outdoor show on earth includes rodeo, chuckwagon races, country fair, midway rides, music and fun.

  • Burns Ranch, (Burns Meats) a historic ranch site located in the river valley adjacent to Pathway Cottage. Tours are available.

  • Heritage Park, a twenty minute drive takes you to another era. Loads of interesting western prairie homes, buildings and artifacts from our prairie past. Includes a ride on a steam locomotive and a paddle wheel ferry ride.

  • Spruce Meadows and equestrian jumping is a 6 minute drive from Pathway Cottage.

  • Fly Fishing on the Bow River - it's awesome! and we're real close - 6 minutes to the river. Guided fishing trips are available.

  • Tours to scenic and historic areas can be arranged.

  • Three minute walk to a Calgary Transit stop.
