To fill your days there are a large variety of options to choose from. Sail for a day with  Lady Rose Marine Services on the Francis Barkley to the quaint village of Bamfield or cruise through the picturesque "Broken Islands" group to the unique village of Ucluelet.

Port Alberni is the ideal spot for those who have a love of the arts where you can visit some of our many artisan studios. If want to get close to nature consider a day of easy hiking. Check for the bears along the shoreline on the boardwalk beside Somass river.

Plan a day or more to go sea kayaking in the Broken Island Group.

Spend time in the Alberni Valley viewing the mighty salmon as it jumps the crashing waters of Stamp Falls.

Lay on the quiet beach of Sproat lake or walk to the Petroglyphs  Enjoy part or all of the 25 km Log Train Trail for a day's easy hiking. Charter fishing here in the "Premier Ultimite Fishing Town" is second to none so you might give that a try.

Stop by the Nuu-chah-nulth Whaling Canoe sculpture along Victoria Quay and check for the "Bears on the Boardwalk" in the same spot. "Cathedral Grove" is short 15 min drive away. Visit the unique "Hole In The Wall" site a short walk from the Coombs Candy Store. Port Alberni is home to great farmers markets at 5 locations through out the yr.

Port Alberni has an excellent historical society so you may want to spend time visiting our museum or the McLean's Steam Sawmill National Historic Site. Stroll through the restored 1926 buildings and watch Canada's only commercial steam operated sawmill. The mill site also includes a collection of heavy industrial vehicles and locomotives. The Steam Train Society will be running the steam train  during the summer. Come and enjoy this 35 minute ride into the past and a day exploring the mill, it's a step back in time!

Remember that Port Alberni is a scenic 90 minute drive to Pacific Rim where you can go whale watching and walk along Canada's longest beach!

Don't forget your golf clubs as you can spend time on either the 9-hole Executive or picturesque 18 hole courses.  Your options are many when you come to the Port Alberni Valley.
