Work Groups

Ambulatory

The Ambulatory Work Group develops and advises on the criteria and test scripts used for certifying the most diverse electronic health record (EHR) market in healthcare, individual physicians and small practices.

 

Inpatient

Tasked with refining and finalizing the criteria surrounding core Inpatient EHR functionality, the Inpatient Work Group monitors the current state of technology supporting hospital-based healthcare.

Network

Interoperable products require a structure for sharing information—a network. Refining and finalizing the criteria surrounding core network functionality, the Network Work Group is tasked with developing criteria and test scripts for the critical connective structure.

Foundation

A core set of criteria spans the entire spectrum of electronic health record (EHR) products. The Foundation Work Group is the liason that works with other CCHIT Work Groups to propose the criteria that belongs to that core set.

Interoperability

Ensuring that healthcare products can share data and interoperate remains one of the primary goals of certification—and the entire healthcare market. The Interoperability Expert Panel works with CCHIT Work Groups to develop the criteria that ensures interoperability exists.

 

Security

Charged with advising on criteria that drive the security requirements for CCHIT Certified EHR products and networks, the Security Expert Panel is tasked with remaining up-to-date on the state of security, from technology to best practices, determining which technology and processes

Child Health

The care of children reaches into every facet of healthcare—from general practitioners to specialists. It is the duty of the Child Health Expert Panel to ensure that the needs of the pediatric population are addressed as certification criteria are developed and adopted.

 

Cardiovascular

Created in 2007, the Cardiovascular Expert Panel has been tasked with advising and supporting a variety of CCHIT Work Groups in forming the criteria that addresses the special needs of cardiovascular medicine and their implications on the use of EHR products.

 

Emergency Department

Created in 2007, the new Emergency Department Work Group has been tasked with refining and finalizing the core criteria for the certification of data capture products used in the treatment of Emergency Department patients.

Privacy & Compliance

Ensuring regulatory and patient concerns are addressed, the Privacy & Compliance Expert Panel has been charged with advising and supporting each CCHIT work group in devloping criteria that addresses privacy and compliance requirements governing the use of EHR products.
